Hayden says Hi!

Well here is Hayden at 38 weeks 3 days. Our appointment today didn't go quite well. Our nurse midwife was feeling he was rather large so we scheduled an ultrasound for later on in the day because he was not even engaged and usually first-time moms are engaged by now. She thinks that he will be too large for my pelvis. So, later on at the ultrasound he was moving around like crazy, which the ultrasound technician never sees this late in pregnancy. My cervix has not changed at all and he has definitely not engaged. I do have polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid), but his kidney and bladder are perfectly normal as well as everything else. He weighs 9 lb. 5 oz., which is just short of them definitely recommending a c-section. He's well above the 90th percentile. They then sent me for a non-stress test, which Hayden then fell asleep for, but they gave me some juice and crackers and he woke up to give some good movements. I will have to have another ultrasound and non-stress test again next week. I did ask if diabetes could have gone undiagnosed and she said that my levels were not even close for that to be considered.

A perinatologist is being consulted to determine if an induction will be done next week due to the excess amniotic fluid. The problem is since my cervix is not favorable, a c-section could be inevitable so we'll have to discuss that with the Dr. to decide. We also mentioned Josh's cousins having PHHI so we have made sure that all the necessary tests will be done after the birth. Hopefully we'll know more tomorrow.

38 Weeks and 3 Days

Here we are at almost 39 weeks. Hayden moves like crazy and is really nowhere near coming out on his own. Hayden has grown a lot in the last few weeks and he will be a big baby. We're not really sure where that comes from since Josh and I were so tiny. Josh was 6 lb. 1 oz at 17 inches long and Lea was 6 lb. 2 oz. at 19 1/2 inches long.

Getting Packed!

Josh and I have been getting ready and packing our bags for the hospital. Hayden's bag has been packed for a while and I just added the last few entries into his baby book before he makes his debut. We've installed the carseat base with a little help from Aunt Marie, since she is the expert car seat technician in the family. We just were having trouble getting it so tight to where it didn't move.

UPDATE: I had my 36 week checkup today and while I'm not dilated or effaced, my cervix has softened and his head is very low. She doesn't think there's a whole lot of room for him to drop any lower. She believes I will be making it to my 37 week appointment. He is in an optimal position for the birth and while his back isn't completely faced outward, he's still turned a little and hanging out on the left side of my belly. She said he is solid baby in there!!

This is the stroller/car seat system that Grandpa Denny and Grandma Debbie gave us. We love how easy it is to fold up and how lightweight it is.

Josh and his new glasses

Here is Josh in his new glasses. I guess fatherhood has turned him into an old man already and Hayden isn't even here yet! I think he looks very handsome- not that he needed an accessory for that!!

More Nursery Pictures

I thought I would add a couple more nursery pictures as we finally received the life preservers that were on back order from Josh's mom.

Here is a photo of the glider that Joel and Vian got for us. I know Hayden will love to be rocked in it and his mommy and daddy will be very comfortable while he's being fed and put to sleep.

35 Weeks and Counting...

On May 8 I reached 35 weeks so here are a couple of new belly photos. I just got my hair done today, which is another thing crossed off the list before Hayden arrives. Overall I'm feeling good. I have quite a bit of pain in my ribs and occasionally some pain in my sacrum region, which makes it difficult to walk especially after getting up in the morning. I'm experiencing what I understand is Braxton Hicks contractions quite a bit throughout the day, which are just slightly uncomfortable. My belly gets very hard and feels like Hayden is trying to push through the top of my belly. We are looking forward to the birth and we just cannot wait to hold him in our arms and hear his first cry.
